Herb Pots that Bring JOY!

Trying to eat healthier is a whole lot easier when you can cook with fresh herbs!

Herbs bring a bright finishing touch to any home-cooked meal. I like to keep my favorite herbs in pots in the kitchen, so they are within easy reach to use in recipes. These herb pots labeled with JOY Embroidered Letters are the perfect accent.

You will need:

  • Joy® Iron-on embroidered Classic Monograms - Black
  • Tombow MONO Multi Liquid Glue
  • Terra Cotta Pots and Saucers - Rose Pots 4" (3)
  • White Acrylic Craft Paint
  • Paper Towels, Water and your favorite Herbs

1. Wet the pots and saucers under a running faucet. Apply white craft paint with a damp paper towel in a random and streaky fashion. Set aside to dry.

2. Peel the letters from the JOY Classic Monograms sheet to spell the name of each herb. Since the terra cotta cannot be ironed on, I used the fine tip of the MONO Multi Liquid Glue to apply a small amount to the back of each letter and then set them in place by hand on each pot.

Here is a close-up photo.

These Herb Pots will bring Joy and deliciousness to your kitchen!

Cute Kitty Slippers

Make cute kitty slippers even cuter with some Joy® Iron-on Embroidered Letters!

You will need:
  • Joy® Iron-on Embroidered Letter sheet - Turquoise
  • Character Slippers
  • Iron, or
  • Fabric glue

Ironing letters onto a soft surface like the cuff of a slipper can be a little tricky.  To make it a little easier, wrap a towel around an empty cardboard roll, then insert into each sock. Iron the letters onto one sock at a time referring to the directions on the back of the packaging, but you may find it easier to use fabric glue to adhere the letters when making this project.

Joy® iron-on, embroidered letters and numbers are available in a variety of sizes, colors, and fonts at your local craft stores.

The Boss's Bag

My daughter recently got a wonderful promotion at work and I wanted to get her something to carry her files back and forth from the office. I thought that "The Boss" would be a great slogan for her new bag. I ordered a fun bag then grabbed some Joy embroidered Letters.

You will need:
  • Joy Embroidered Letters in white
  • Bag
  • Iron and pressing cloth
  • Tombow brush marker to color the letters if desired

This project was super simple!
  1. Select the letters then color with a brush marker to contrast with the colors of the bag.
  2. Place your letters on the bag and press in place following the directions on the JOY blog.
  3. Fill with your favorite supplies!

For small projects like this I love using my ironing pad. It is small enough to tuck away when I am done and perfect for protecting my counter top.

White letters can be colored/dyed using pretty much anything. I think I have tried them all!  For this project I grabbed a brush marker and colored the letters before adding the to the project. Be sure you pressing cloth is something you don't mind getting dirty because sometimes inks can transfer.

My Garden Book

No matter the size, big or small...everyone loves to plant in the garden!

There is just something so  rewarding to see what you planted, come to life! I created this garden journal to help me remember what and when I planted, as well as to illustrate my garden as it comes to life..

You will need:

  • Joy® Embroidered Iron-On Letter Sheet- in Aqua or White (if you want to color your own).
  • Tacky Glue
  • Notebook with pages and pockets
  • Floral Washi tape

The front of the notebook had a embossed floral design which I accented with watercolors.
I then glued the embroidered letters in place down the left side.

Washi tape can be used to create the page tabs as well as decorative accents.

Signs of SPRING!

Spring is a beautiful time of year!  Time for some new decor!

To make the Spring mini signs you'll need:
  • Joy® iron-on letter sheet - white
  • mini sign holders:  1.5 x 2"; package of 10
  • coordinating memory papers (this is a good project to use up scraps)
  • mulberry paper flowers:  1.5", multiple colors
  • Adhesive
  • paper trimmer
  • wire cutter

1.  Cut one 1-1/2" x 2" rectangle of one memory paper.  Slide the paper between the panels of one mini sign with the pattern showing through the front of the frame.  Repeat with each of the selected papers.

2.  Pick the embroidered letters out of the package to spell SPRING.  Adhere one letter at the center of each frame.

3.  Cut the excess wire off each of the paper flowers. Arrange and adhere to the frames.  I thought they needed a little more so I added some tiny berry sprigs to finish the project.

4.  These letters can be colored with dye, paint, markers and more.  Check out the instructions on the package to find out how.  You can also add glitter by covering each letter with tacky glue then sprinkling with glitter.  Shake off excess glitter and let dry.

Tropical Birthday Banner

My youngest granddaughter is turning one this month. The theme is flamingos, so I created this bright tropical banner to tie onto her high chair.

You will need:
Joy® Iron-on letters, 3" script

Fabric Paint and stiff nylon fabric brush
Kunin® Friendly felt - green
Kunin® Classic felt - 2-4 bright colors
Fabric in bright colors for the strips
Burlap ribbon or string
Die cut machine - flower and leaf dies
Hot glue and glue gun
Brush, scissors

1.  Paint the letters while still on the backing, using a pouncing motion with a stiff brush.

2.  Cut 3 leaves and 6 or more flowers from felt.  To create a tropical leaf pattern draw a heart-shaped leaf, then draw around your finger to create the indentations.

3. Cut the string to desired length. Tear 1" strips of fabric then tie onto the string (or ribbon) with either a lark's head, or simple knot.
4. Iron or glue one letter to each leaf.  Use hot glue to adhere the leaves to the garland.  Add flowers as desired.
5. Tie around the front of a high chair or display on a table or wall.  Enjoy the party!

Joy® Iron-on letters are available individually, or in sheets in a variety of colors, sizes and fonts at your local craft stores.
