Mixed Media Art Tags

mixed media tags lisa fulmer

I love the extra texture that Joy embroidered letters bring to art journaling and mixed media. These art tags are 4" x 8" - I had lots of fun inking, spritzing, stenciling, painting and stamping! For the bird tag, I rubbed my white letters across ink pads to color them. For the snow tag, I left them white and added clear glue and glitter.

Create some JOY with this personalized gift basket!

Do you like to give your family gifts? I sure do! I recycled this fall basket I had made last month and passed on the love by using Joy embroidered letters to personalize it for a Christmas gift.

Materials used:

White Joy letters:  1" block and 3/4" script
Green chipwood basket
Red berries from a spray
Key ornament
Chalkboard star ornament
White paint marker
Christmas pine garland
Wire cutter, scissors
Craft stick
Hot glue

Instructions:

Start at the back of the basket and wrap the garland around it, making two rows. Glue to secure.

Cut the berries apart leaving at least 1" of stem. Glue them into the garland, spacing them around the basket as shown in the photo.

Outline the edges of the chalkboard star with the white marker.

Lay out the letters first to get them spaced correctly and glue to the star.

Tie the star to the basket handle and attach the key ornament in the same manner. Apply a bit of glue to hold them in place.

Spread some snow medium on the top of the garland using the craft stick. Use a light touch on the berries to avoid concealing them. Allow to dry thoroughly.

Fill your basket with goodies of your choice. Some stove-top potpourri is always a great homespun gift - you can find lots of recipes online.

This is the season for giving!  Enjoy!

Dollar Store Christmas Candle

dollar store christmas candle

It is so easy to dress up a inexpensive dollar store candle with iron-on embroidered letters from Joy!

I keep a little container of left over bits from other Christmas projects - so I grabbed some odds and ends, along with some ribbons and went to work. NOTE: I ended up using the red letters, rather than the black ones shown above.

I started by hot-gluing a wide burlap ribbon to the candle, then adding a fluffy silver bow. I filled in around the bow with lots of small embellishments from my jar. I ironed my Joy letters onto a medium-width grosgrain ribbon, cut it to length, then glued it to the candle.

To finish off, I added glitter glue to a few of the pieces for some sparkle.

Personalized Christmas Stocking

iron-on letters christmas stocking

Joy iron-on letters are a quick and easy way to personalize almost anything around the house, especially during the holidays. We always hang stockings along the fireplace mantel, and these sheets of embroidered letters made it really easy to personalize each one.

There are different fonts available in different colors. To make the letters stand out a little more, I glued a strip of sparkly white felt on top of the green, then added silver decorative trim along the top and bottom edges. This was the perfect background for the red embroidered letters. Iron-on letters made personalizing our stockings a quick and easy project.

Stockings are also great for gift-giving. Personalize and fill with special treats for a neighbor, co-worker, or use for a hostess gift.  It would be unique and definitely a gift that keeps on giving.

Quick and Easy Holiday Candle

holiday candle

With the holidays around the corner, this is a good time to start thinking of quick and easy last-minute gift ideas! Joy embroidered letters really come in handy to add a personal touch - but don't limit yourself to ironing them on fabrics! I used a Xyron sticker maker to add these letters to a glass candle.

When you think of the versatility, the possibilities are endless! Remove the letters from the sheet, then put them through the Xyron sticker maker and stick them to any surface easily!

Simple and fun - happy holidays!

- Toothpick

Arrange and glue letters to spell "Enjoy" or the word of your choice.

Apply glue to the back of the letters with a toothpick and adhere to the bag.

Try this idea on wrapped gifts, too. Add someone's name or initials on top instead of using a gift tag.

Blocks of JOY

christmas joy holiday decoration

Make these quick and easy Christmas blocks for the mantel - it's a great Christmas decoration that requires only a few supplies from the craft store.

I used the 3" collegiate size embroidered letters from JOY.  You can find a variety of these letters at your favorite craft store or on their website - go large or small!

Supplies you will need:

Embroidered letters:  J, O, Y
Christmas-themed cardstock
Tacky glue
Clear glitter
Mini sisal Trees
Paper trimmer

Instructions:

1.  Cut the cardstock into 4" squares - 5 squares for each block

2.  Vary the colors and patterns as you glue the squares to each side of the block. Smooth out any air bubbles and let dry.

3.  Remove the release paper from each embroidered letter and adhere to each block.

4.  Smudge some glue around the white borders of each letter and sprinkle with glitter; shake off excess.

5.  Glue the sisal trees to the top of the center block.

Smoothfoam cubes and Joy embroidered letters come in different sizes.  A "PEACE" block set would be great using  2" or 3" blocks and smaller letters.

Happy Holidays!
